1st project
we have a 69 4x4 that we want to make into a power machine . we need a lots of body parts and a new engine. what engines will be the easiest to swap. it is a small block v8 now. this is my sons and mine 1st project. any help will be greatly appreciated and badly needed, thanks

Welcome, I havent been on here long and have already learned heaps. Im building a 4x4 myself and am willing to give as much help as I can. There is a wealth of knowledge here.
What will you be doing with your truck, mud, rocks, sand, or all the above?

i'd go with a 350 or a 383 stroker

Why not a sb 400? As long as you find one intact--w/flywheel and balancer--it should go in pretty easily.

what we are going to do with the truck? how about blacktop. we want one that smokes all 4!!!! don't know if that is possible but we are going to try. as far as 4 wheeling it will be mostly mud, here in northern IL. farm country.

Was building the motor something you and your son were looking to do or would you rather spend more time on other stuff and drop in a World Products Motown 415 crate motor, 465 HP, 2yr/24,000 mile warranty. Only $7500 from Jegs! Bolt on a water pump and air cleaner and go!

I kept the drivetrain. Body/bad and chassis are gone. 1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed. 1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm |

a crate motor sounds great. does anyone know what the price difference would be between a crate and rebuilding a big block and putting everything new in the rebuilt? i know there are a lot of variables on the rebuilt but generally speaking everything new.
