regarding the 77Big 10 chevy w/6050 lbs. your wrong about the cat converter. go to this site and be enlightened ol grasshopper. what i am not sure of is the egr. but maybe not since this is considered heavy duty truck emissions which are different those years. read and see. the adress is:73-87.com/7387info/7387emislevel.htm

take it easy noobs. we all know Commiefornia has some retarded laws, and specific emissions packages for vehicles which often arent needed in the other 49 states.

Not even my 80 with the stock exhaust had a cat on it. It is an HD 3/4 ton though, so that may have been where the difference was. I am expecting that they'll probally force me to install cats pretty quick, when they start the emissions testing they are pushing for

do some digging, usually once theyre exempt, they cannot force you to put on non-OEM parts just because certain other types of vehicles the same year had them. thats like saying they had cats in 1990 trucks so your 37 ford truck is required to have them too.... WRONG!
just do some research, theres ways around this.
