Deluxe sidemarker wire-up
[FONT=Arial][SIZE=7][COLOR=Black]
My first "dumb Newbie" post: Just installed some repro deluxe sidemarkers, even tho not "correct" for my year model, I like the look of them. No lights or wiring run to the housings in '68, but the new housings are obviously made for snap-in type bulb fittings. Where to buy proper pre-wired fittings, bulbs, model #'s, etc ??? Also, while I'm splicing wire, I'd like to modify the parking lights, tailights, & sidemarker lights to be "always-on-when-running" lights, and also have the sidemarkers blink same as turn signals. Not scared of wiring, but also not smart enough to figure out "how ?" Can't find any prior posts on this subject, so any help & especially a wiring diagram sketch would be appreciated. My apologies to whoever I stole this photo crop from: |

Welcome to the board!! As for where to get the wired lights that you are looking for, many of the board vendors offer them. If you are in a hurry, I know that many of my local Big Box Auto Parts stores like AutoZone, O'Reilly's, etc carry them as well.
As for the "being correct", forget about it! It is your truck and as long as you like the look, that is all that matters. After all, you're the one paying the bills! Dean

I would use a relay to run the DRL (Daytime Running Lights) so that they can be isolated from the dash lights and headlight switch. I would run the coil terminal of the relay to a keyed on source in the fuse box. In order to use the front markers as turn signals and DRLs I would use a dual filament bulb or modify the housings to accept two mini bulbs. One for the DRLs and one for the signal.
There are a couple of different ways of doing it. Just my $.02 |

Far North-Central Arkansas, in the Ozark Mtns, a small town called Mountain Home, lying between two huge Corps of Engineers reservoirs, Bull Shoals Lake, and Norfork Lake, which were made by dams across the White River, & North Fork of the White.
What we call God's Country: great fishing in the Lakes, finest rainbow & brown trout fishing in the country on the Rivers, & beautiful green rolling hills scenery everywhere. Lotsa neat old trucks, too (still daily-drivers - no winter road salting). No wonder my truck is so darn slow getting done .......... |
