Favor Please

I was wondering if someone that had a 65 longbed fleetside or equivalent could do me a favor. I am in the process of doing the bodywork on my bed. Could someone take a straight edge and go about one inch above the lip on the rear wheel well opening (outside) and see if this is flat. I used a three foot straight edge on both sides of my truck bed and mine is sunk in about 1/16 of an inch right above the center of the wheel well. There has been no body work done in these areas since the truck was new. I'm guessing that this is a factory bend, but I want to make sure.

Thanks

Damn! I forgot to do that last night. I'll see if I can remember to do that tonight when I get home and I'll let you know what I find out...

OK, I got about 1/16 of an inch on both sides of my '66 long fleetside. I'm thinking that it should be flat however. There is the wheel well and an interior support attached at this locatation and it may be pulling the side in somewhat.

Thanks newbe351, that's the same measurement I've got (about 1/16th of an inch). There are two flat supports on both sides of the wheel opening that I had to cut loose on both sides to repair a couple of holes that are created by the moisture that gets trapped behind these support. I replaced the supports to the original location, but I figured that I had created a warp. I have a feeling that there is supposed to be a slight dip on both sides. I have a decision to make......leave it like it is or make it flat while I'm doing the body work. Thanks for checking for me.

I was reading some of the online tech articals for Project Old School and they mention that this is a major problem area of these year trucks. I haven't even looked at mine since 1/16 is of little concern when there is a hole in the floor that a small child could crawl in and out of
