I have been thinking about doing a notch in old Lefty. the problem is I do & plan to continue using my truck to haul heavy loads or pull heavy trailers. I also need to keep the floor intact & complete.

any ideas?

My 68 beater has the bolt-in style c-notch that has now been welded in. I've pulled my loaded 18ft car trailer w/no issues. However, my truck is pretty low & the bed floor (what's left of it) above the pumpkin had been 'clearanced' in transit. That shouldn't be an issue though unless your really low.

although I think I may have an idea now how to "build a better mouse trap". I see where the kit could possibly crack under heavy loads right from the corners. maybe make the frame go from a factory 5" channel into a 1 1/2" X 3" tube of some sort without any sharp angles. does this make sense?
