Help! - How to test fuel level system?
Hi,
Just recently the fuel gauge in my 1972 K-20 quit working and just stays pegged all the way to the right above full. I've checked the connection to the sending unit and the fuse and they are OK. How can I test or troubleshoot the system to determine what is causing the problem? Thanks in advance for any replies. |

A good place to check is under the drivers side mat/door sill where the wires are routed. I have found many a problems with the fuel gauge and interior light under that area. After many years of moisture and crud the wiring rots. When the circut is "open" (broken/disconnected wire) the gauge reads full. That would be my guess.

Gordo,
Thanks for the advice. I'll take off the sill plate and examine the wiring. Hopefully it's as simple as that. Thanks again for the tip! |
