the main problem that i had with the block huggers was trying to stop them from leaking.they leaked where they bolted onto the heads and also where the engine pipes bolted on to the collector.they was made made by a company called genie.

That link takes you to the "truck" manifolds. Those are all 2" ramhorns which is not what your looking for if you want to improve performance.

Try this page Corvette manifolds and check out the 2.5" manifolds.

They ran cast iron manifolds. Rams Horn is a name associated with the look of the exhaust. They "look" like Ram's Horn. They were called manifolds.

This is what a BBC Vette looks like:

Here is more info:

http://www.castheads.com/corvette_systems.php

http://www.castheads.com/2into1_systems.php

anyone tried 2into1

I would like to run a single pipe to the back just like factory exhaust
but 2 - 2 1/2" into 3" with nice quite 3" in 3" out freeflow muffler.
If there is such a thing.

I have been using headers for years and never knew the Long Horns were this good. Never had any leaks with any of the headers I ever had except maby a gasket leak.

OK, from reading the posts and following the links I've come to the following conclusions:

- 2-1/2" ram's-horn manifolds are preferred.
- Any manifold with the straight-down outlet will require engine frame mount modification to fit.
- Manifolds with the angled outlets will fit with no problem, although I'm wondering if this is subject to the truck being 2wd or 4wd.
- There are no new 2-1/2" manifolds with angled outlets.

Am I on track here? Did Chevy ever make 2-1/2" manifolds with angled outlets? If not, I would think that a set of 2" manifolds could be improved by opening up the inlets and then extrude-honing, but this could get pricey. I think I have a set of angled 2" somewhere in the basement...

[It's no flathead.] I know. It's one of Louie Chevrolet's finest achievements!

Brad I think you have it. The 2.5" ramhorns were small block Corvette only. You could port match a 2" set as well, but they won't flow as much as the 2.5".
The angled outlet ram horns were truck only....

I have my doubts anyone could tell the difference between the 2 and 2 1/2" manifolds by the seat of their pants dyno though Ken.
