Question on 80 something frontend on 77

Thinking of buying a 77 which has an 80 something front end (dual square head lights) and was wondering what I would need to restore this to a 77 front end.

Any info is appreciated.

Thanks.

You are probably going to need fenders, hood, grille, headlights, parking lights, side marker lights for the fenders and possibly a radiator support. That is all I can think of at the moment, I converted my truck from a 77 to an 86 a while back because the body was shot. Good luck.

To make it back to a 70's, you need the entire front clip.

Dont forget your wipers! I think 73-80 trucks had shorter wiper posts(so the wipers would fit under the hood) and 81-87 trucks had taller ones(so they would stick up through the cowl)

Might want to take a look at the cowl area in front of the windshield. Make sure they didnt hack it up too bad if they installed the 81 and up hood hinges . If you are going to want it to look factory when converted back , that might be an issue. You might also check the front of the frame horns where the bumper bolts on .81-87 trucks had the front of the frame horns trimmed and a bumper bracket bolted on . 73-78 trucks are shaped a little different . f. monroe is very right, they hacked my cowl area all up and they added the longer wiper brackets as above mentioned. Here are the pictures I promissed you, later...

I found a shot for ya, and I went and took some pics of what they butchered above the firewall and below, simply a sad attempt at a nice resto piece
