HEI problem
Went to start the truck,and didn't have any spark.Changed the modual,still no spark.Put new coil on,it started,backed out of garage and died.Now I have no spark again.It has a good 12v source from the fuse box to the dist.Any Ideas?Thanks

Is the 12v wire fused?

The wire has an inline fuse,but it is getting full power to the coil.I am getting ready to put on another cap coil,pickup and rotor of a truck that is running

The new module from Car Quest was bad!!Took the stock gm out of my suburban,runs fine now.

Sounds like you keep frying your coil because you didn't properly ground it to me.

I agree with shifty. I know it is fixed now, but do you have the metal ground strap on the coil? There should be 2, a black wire one and a metal strap. It will run good for a while without it, but it will eventuelly kill the coil/hei again...

Oh - and regarding the ground strap - I show pictures of the necessary ground strap for your coil in the FAQ HEI thread I made some time ago. It's really important you use it or you're going to keep eating through coils.

Yes it has the proper grounds,and no it was not the coil.It was the BRAND NEW modual.I bought the truck 5 years,and 20000 miles ago.I bought a new modual and coil saturday.I took the bad new modual back to car quest and got my money back.I bought a MSD kit at the Ocean City Cruise.

If I had a nickle for every BRAND NEW aftermarket module I saw that was bad right out of the box I could quit work and play with my truck all day like you guys get to do.

New MSD, less than 500 miles on it, gave up the ghost. The warranty had expired so it cost me for shipping and repair.
