Need to know underhood paint colors for 72

I like to use look of the original underhood colors on my 72 k-10.
Question: what are the original shades of black e.g. gloss, chassis, or satin etc. for the following items? I'm an oem sort of guy
1) air cleaner
2) hood hinges
3) brackets
4) is the power brake booster originally black or aluminum colored? ..I've seen it both colors

Mine are oil and grunge colored, if that helps.

Try Krylon #1613. Wal*Mart carries it. I've done a whole inner wheel well with it and it still looks good 9 months later.
GM also sells "Chassis restore" or something like that. It is pretty darn close to #1613 Krylon. It comes in a gallon pre-mixed, ready for you to spray.

The air cleaner will look good with the spray-bomb Krylon.
Brackets look good.
I'm not sure of the factory color of the hood hinges but if they're black use #1613.
The brake booster was anodized. A co-worker cracked the two halves of his Chevelle booster apart and had it re-anodized. It looks great but I don't have that kind of time and money. Eastwoods sells a kit with three spray bombs in it. It is supposed to look like that gold-ish color when done. I've heard mixed reviews about the product.

Colors

I am not 100% sure on these but from what I have seen and what I am doing to my truck here is what I have

hood latch and powerbooster should be a dark gray metallic....it is almost black but if you look real close it has some metallic in it...this is OEM finish
I know of two trucks that are untouched and that is what color they are

inner fender are a satin black....you can buy from year one called GM reconditioning Black (made by GM) this would also be the color for radiator support and under hood.

I am not sure on the aircleaner but I think it should be a little glossier than the inner fenders and rad. support.

Hope this helps.....Paul K

By bad on the Booster

Booster should be like a zinc color silvery no gold tint like on most cars you see...attached are some photos of two different engine compartments that are unrestored trucks..

six cylinder aircleaner but note how shiney it is

Latch upper and lower and hood hinges where colored the drk gray met

Hope these help....Paul K

The booster on my 72 was black from the factory so I por-15ed mine and then painted it semi gloss black. I have never seen an original truck brake booster with a gold cadium type coating, but I belive that cars of this era came with that type of coating.

Brackets and air cleaner should be semi-gloss black.

I have yet to see an original set of hood hinges with anything but a rust coating on them so I assume they did not come with anything on them. To duplicate the bare metal look check out eastwood for some coatings.

Here is some info that might help, not for trucks but for the most part things should be the same

I like to call mine "earth tone". It has a better ring to it than grunge.
