H-Pipe opinions please>>>

I know we have talked about this before but I just need to hear all you alls thoughts before tomorrow.
I take my 72 into the exhaust shop tomorrow to have new pipes installed for my new 454 w/thorleys.

H-pipe Yes or No??
Being a 4x4 the H will have to be placed behind the Xfer case & crossmembers.
Is this too far back to do any good?
Can anyone honestly say they felt/heard any difference after adding a H-pipe?
The place I am taking it too has been in biz fer a LOoong time and I am working with the owner. I will seek his opinion on the matter too I just wanted to hear some real world chatter on this one.
Pls post up if you can. I will be off-line @ 3pmPST today and in the shop first thing tomorrow morning

Just Do it egh!
Ya I'm leaning towards that, I'll see what the shop owner has to say....

Seems some belive in them and some think they do nothing if not placed in the 'sweet spot'

Just do it....

Steve,

I put one on mine mostly for the improvement in sound. I agree that the torque advantage is minimal or nothing with the crossover placed so far back, but it does kill the motorboat resonance you get with the duals.

Not to late I hope...
Yeah, do it, they sound better with an H pipe.
My blazer that has one sounds alot better than the blazer without.
Both have decent turbo's on em.
Yeah, do it!

I think chevys should have them - it has something to do w/ the cycle which the cylinders fire - its not equal at the collectors on your headers .... the H pipe makes it sound = at the end result comming out yer tips.

Mines right under my rear drive line... when i busted a back U joint it got a little beat (not bad enough to swap out) and held my drive line off the ground.....much better then dragging it at 40mph+ on the gas. Damn it was scary loud though.

shops usually say yes, i think mine said for the same reason as i said above that it IS ok w/ fords though?!?!? who cares about those anyways

That looks very sweet!!!!! So I guess your muffler guy felt the H pipe would still enhance performance even tho it's behind the t-case? Or did you end up doing it for other reasons?
