Exclamation Stepside Fender Help

1986 GMC C1500 Stepside
305 4BBL

My truck came equipted with dual tanks which was an option. Now the problem. I want to keep this truck stock, maybe do a few mods to it. Someont had taken off the right tank and everything off the right hand side. The truck had been sitting for 2 years before I rescued it. I am really in need of a Left Rear Fender with a Square Gas Hole. I have gone through many companies and they don't make it. I was on another web site and found one but it was $500.00 american. Way too much. Can anyone help here??

Thanks,

Joe

No one makes an aftermarket left side rear fender with a gas door. The one you priced for $500 was an old stock GM piece, he is marking it up about $100 more than normal, but you really can't get these anymore. I would call them and actually find out if they have them.

fender

i'm having the same problem on a 1976,single tank,,seem's like i remember a recall or something back then because the tank was between the body and the frame and they were catching on fire with side impact..know that don't help you any but i search just about everyday so if i come across something you could use i will let you know...

The trucks catching fire were a farce. The fenders weren't availible via aftermarket because GM was still supplying them. Now GM doesn't have them anymore and no one is making them.

I have rear fenders for the 73-87's, just not the left side.

I am not familiar with step sides.

Is the problem in the fact that the one side that is not available and does or does not have a gas tank door?

Just an idea.......
Can the door be filled, or if it needs a door take a fender that is junk EXCEPT for the door, take the door out with some surrounding metal and graft the door flipped over onto the blank fender??

Or is this just too insane??

Just curious??... and thinking on the keyboard.......you can just tell me to go away if you want...........

Also I try to refer people that are looking for stuff to try
www.car-part.com
You can be supprised at what you can find there....

Just my .02

Why not just put the right hand gas tank back in? In fact all you really need is the right hand side filler neck stuff. The left side brackets and tank could be reused on the right side.

I would change the tank to the other side, but I am stubborn. I want to keep it stock and have the tanks on both sides. Either way, I have to find a fender.
