One-wire alternator gauge hookup

I just hooked up a new one-wire alternator on my truck. I also removed all the external regulation stuff. There was one extra wire which I taped up that ran to the cab. The alternator guage doesn't work and I was wondering how the gauge communicates with the alternator. I thought maybe the gauge monitored the volts going into the cab via the heavy red wire. Maybe not. Has anyone been down this road.

Thanks

Jason

I don,t know the right way but I took the brown wire from the ext reg and ran it back into the cab to the gauge. if you run a wire from any other source I found the guage will not read corectly.

Someone else will have to post a pic my daughter took my camera on a trip and mine (wires) are on the garage floor. I took them out because I'm converting to voltmeter.

Where in FAQ

I tried the FAQ. Did not find any matches.

If I hook up the black wire, do I hook it to the same termanal as the red feed wire.

Thanks

Jason
