My 67 Chevrolet

When I introduced myself here recently, I mentioned I had just bought a 67 Chevrolet Custom 10 not too long ago. Well here she is. The story behind it is a farmer had it, parked it for 3 years and went to start it, and she wouldn't turn over. It was only weather seized, but he decied to park it for good. That was about 12 years ago. I'm only the 2nd owner, he bought it new at a local dealership which is now long gone. It says it has 17,000 miles, and I acutally think its right, since its got almost no rust(rockers and cab corners are really good). Its an automatic, and has 283 in it. Me and my dad are trying to get it going. We've put rust penetrant down the plug holes and we're probly gonna take the heads off next weekend. We're probly gonna end up putting a different motor in. And this is probly nothing, but it came with all four original Chev hub caps. Paid $250 Canadian(175 american?) Bargain?

Sorry about poor quality of picsures, I used a disposable camera. I really need to get a digital one....

A bargain? NO...You stole it from that old farmer . Nice truck. What are some of the plans you have for it?

As for plans for it, I don't have much right now. Still in high school so I don't have much of a cash flow, and most of my funds are going into my 96 Dodge. What I do plan on doing with the 67 in the near future is some new rims and dual exhaust. Its not much, but its a start for now.

Thumbs up

That's a kool truck and story give her some TLC and take care of her as she is probably twice your age.

As for the sized engine get some marvills mistry oil and put it in there wait for a few days and try to turn her by hand.

I could do the oil thing, but me and my dad still plan on taking off the heads and taking a look inside. The oil solution would be much easier, but I've never taken a motor apart before so this could be a good learning experience.

Anytime you can get an unmolested truck with all the pieces it's a good thing

Good deal.

I got some better pics. Got a digital camera

And about the tractor, its a Case 310. Dad just bought it, he has a thing for older Case trators. He buys them and fixes them up. He's got a 430 Diesel(quite rare I believe), 570(rare), 510, and now a 310.

Nice steal! I have a 68 that sat for 12 years. I am trying to get it running this summer. Here are a couple of links that you might find useful:

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php3?t=144424

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php3?t=139511

But I am starting as a complete novice, sounds like you guys know way more about this than I do, and I am a couple of months into my truck.

Good luck with it.

Update on the weather seized motor:

Dad filled the motor with diesel fuel(everybody says it works the best), let it sit for about 2 and 1/2 weeks. Last night we tried to get it to turn over. Got the wratchet on the pulley, got it to move a little bit. So we then got some metal tubing for more leverage, but then the damn harmonic balancer broke. Man, I thought we were actually going to break her loose. Hopefully the local wrecker has what we need, and if not, were gonna pull the motor out. We know were there's another 283, but the guys been gone for atleast one month. So who knows when he's coming back.

Update: Got the parts, and we cracked it again. We've decided to pull the motor. So hopefully we'll have the old girl running soon.
