Aux Fuel tanks in a CST

Anyone know where I can get parts/ info on aux tanks on a CST Blazer. Mine has them bu I can't figure out how they operate. There is no switch in the cab or on the floor. The tanks need to be pulled, blasted and sealed. Also anyone know where you can get new aux fuel doors??

Thanks

I have never seen a Blazer with aux tanks. Are you sure they are factory?

I've seen one Blazer several years back that had the aux tank but I'm not sure if it was factory or not.

Yeah, my '72 has the HICKEY aftermarket tanks. I think all the aux tanks were aftermarket, but possibly dealer installed.

The tanks in my '72 are controled by a selector on the floor in front of the driver's seat. There are only 2 positions, the main tank and the aux tanks. As far as I can tell, the aux tanks draw from the driver's side first, then the pass side. I really don't use them since the gas guage doesn't work with them and they slosh around a lot. There doesn't seem to be any baffels inside the tanks to prevent sloshing.

Thanks for the pics and the info about the tanks, I'm betting they were aftermarket too.

That`s the kind my`72 has.I think they are Desert Dynamics.I don`t have any valve to control that I can recall.

special-K - does the gas draw from all three tanks without manually switching?

Wow! Looks like you could go about 1,000 miles on those 3 tanks!

good question

Bouncy when you fill them all up (have you ever to see how they work?) does it make your blazer a low rider or what?!?!? I can feel the dif. between a full and empty tank w/ my beat susp. but i know yours is lifted a bit..

I'd use them even though they dont have guages and just switch when they run out heh, but the weight would prob not be good for economy.

I have filled them all before. I didn't really notice any difference, but it was when i first got the truck and I wasn't completely used to it anyway. I just haven't had a need to use them again. There are gas stations on every corner and I'd need to take a mortgage out on the house to pay to fill them all. The side tanks are 13 or 14 gal each. One of the board members (the guy who has all the brochures, ect posted online) has info on the HICKEY tanks. I don't have the link to his site on my home computer, just at work. I think it is something like slosh.com

Hey Bouncytruck,I`ll have to check on that. It`s at my mom`s place a few hours away.I think they are all plumbed into a common line to the front,no valve/switch or guage switch. They are probably HICKEY,like yours. There are a few other cool things on that Blazer:Locking steel console(steel box/padded top),Swing-away tire/can mount,Roll bar,and Skid-plates(t-case & fuel tank).

I'd assume that the way it is plumbed is just depending on who installed it. Does the gas guage work with the spare tanks?
