rednecks save the day once again

get yourself a LARGE plastic zip tie and go through the lug nut holes to the strut that is vertical behind your spare and cinch it down tight. it works on my 36" inch spare, it'll work on yours. or any variation of bailing wire and duct
tape, bungie cords etc... but dont use the wrong combo or you are asking for
bad hardware mojo

there are few problems in life that cant be resolved with the proper application of High Explosives!

I'm sorry, did you say you can fit a 36 inch spare in a 3-door burb's spare tire cavity? Does it touch the bottom or just ride the ridges?

My burb has the complete factory set up except for the spring and ring to hold down the jack which goes behind the tire. I will be getting an original suburban wheel cover soon so I will take some pix once it gets here.

I don't have a pic at this moment, but will try to get one for you. Basically it consists of a threaded rod with what looks like a big wing nut on the end of it, and a triangular steel plate that goes up against the spare wheel lug holes. The rod goes through the center hole of the wheel and screws into a threaded hole in the body. I salvaged the one I have from a van of about the same vintage and it works perfect.
