307 kickin'...had a problem last night though.

I took my truck for a spin last night to go see my freind play a bit and he let me sit in also and i got to toot my sax a little. had a few drinks, hung out and was headed home about 230am. Turned on my head lights so I thought....I couldnt tell if my lights were on or not (PSSSST...That usually means that they're not) so I flick my highs and they came on...back to lows nothing...hmmm...I pulled over and tap the foot switch a bit, tug and pushed at the plug (usually the case)...nothing. I went to my wireing harness and wiggled the headlight plugs....and then ALL my lights went out. no cab and no juice at all.

CRAP.

Then I noticed that my harness was tucked akwardly (sp) under the back side of my radiator. Must have been due to moving stuff around during the engine install. So I unbolted the clamp or what ever and bingo bango...the electrician who rewired my ALT also lengthened the wireing to reach the alternator on the passenger side....the crimp connector holding the main feed had come loose...so there I was in a dark parking lot with a very dim flashlight fixing my stuff. So I get it fixed....starts right up...but no head lights...so I wiggle the foot switch and bingo bango lights, and off I go. I really need to replace that stupid thing.
Thats it....later on fellas and gals..

Those old dimmer switches have a tendency to collect dirt and crud along with moisture. Then the terminals loose contact. And if you run the newer halogens the dimmer switch can get hot and melt the connector as well.
Oh hey, I work in San Marcos.

Yup, sounds like it might be time for a new wiring harness, to keep other problems from creeping up.
