OK, I wanted you to know I did remove this from a 71 GMC 1/2 ton 4x4 automatic and it came with tow hooks and this skid plate from the factory on this truck. A very solid and tough piece of metal for sure! I really hope this is correct for you, otherwise I would not have even told you about this. Darn, now to find a million more and I can be rich, NOT! LOL, They did not make a million 4x4's, too bad.

Just a curious ??, I've got another style skid plate that was off a 72 blazer, I had another one on a 72 4x4 that was the same. But I just parted a 71 3/4 4x4 that had one like the one in your pic Mike. I'm beginning to wonder if 72 had there own style????? Anyone know for sure??? Just trying to learn more about these trucks. Thanks Randy

skid plate

I just sold one to a board memebr out of a blazer. It looked like the pic below. I knew the blazer was a 71 or 72, but didn't really look that hard. Just went out and looked and it's a 72.

The 4X4 truck ones were complete pans, while the Blazer ones were exactly like Randy posted. Both ones are very hard to find original.

Just to share some info, my 69 K20 only has one skid plate and it is located directly under the carrier bearing.

I've seen ones like Marks, I even have a few around here. I was noticing the holes too LUV, there must of been 3 different styles of these, something else I need to remember about these trucks, seem like I find out something new everyday on this great board!!!!

Mine doesn't protect the T-case at all, but not sure how much protection it needs given the transfer case crossmember.
