Well i have an 82 gmc and when i purchased the truck it had no turn signal lever. i had been broken off by the guy that drove it before me. now inspection in due and i have some questions. i have cruise control but does not work, and dont plan on using it anyway. what lever must i purchase? where can you find them? and how do you replace them? thanks for all the help.

They just pull out. Try a wrecker and cut the cruise wire off. Or I would pull the whole lever out with the wire and install in your truck( If your cruise does not work it might be the lever). Heres a tip, Unplug the cruise wire in your truck(under the dash along side the column), there is a small hole in the end. Twist a piece of wire thru the hole and tape it(small wire that bend easily, not coathanger). Now pull the cruise wire out thru the lever hole and undo. Now you have a wire to pull the new cruise wire back down the column. If you have a tilt, put it in the straight position so the connector doesnt catch on the inside column. I dont have one of these trucks but old GM techs never die.

thought it was newer. theres a screw that hold the lever on. You must pull the wheel. All else applies

If yours is the old style that doesnt have wipers on the lever then there's a phillips screw on the lever that holds it to the turn switch. You'll have to pull the wheel. If you want to just replace the lever then there is an access hole in the column lock plate to get to the screw once the wheel is off. If the whole switch is busted in the column, then you'll need to pull the lock plate. I just replaced both lever and switch last weekend.
