'68 C-20 hubcap w/orange paint?

I found a hubcap that looks just like the 68 C-20 stainless caps but it has orange accent paint like this picture. Anyone know what these orange caps came on?

The only time I've seen these they have had black and red painted accents.

I just found that hubcap last night on Ebay!!....BUT it's for a 1/2 ton.....look on the picture that shows the back side...it's MISSING that machine pressed ring that connects to the clips that are on 3/4-1 ton wheels!...which I believe would make that hubcap for a 1/2 ton.
Let me know if I wrong or not seeing something.
Thanks

I`ve seen them red/orange as well as black.I don`t know if it depended on body color, trim level,or`67 vs`68.

69 oldie...

It's not for ahalf ton. That cap in my first post is the one on e-bay, I cut and pasted the picture from the auction. I only used it because the one I found at the local hubcap emporium is already on my truck and it fits fine (on my c-20). I stripped all the paint off and it looks like the others. I think the half ton hubcaps were either full wheel covers or concave in the center.

Maybe that orange painted cap was just an alternative sceme that was used like special-k said. I would think that someone on this board has seen a set.

I do know that the one I picked up wasn't painted afterward by a creative owner. It had a stencil line that wasn't quite straight and it was sprayed too lightly, just like the factory painted black and red caps that came on my truck.

I bet that guy gets over 30 bucks for that orange one on e-bay. I'm bowing out of the auction--I've got enough good drivers now.

O.K. now you have me confused??? I have a 68 Longhorn. The hubcaps I have, have a steel ring pressed on the backside of the hubcap that is held on to the wheel with 4 clips that are rivited on the wheel itself. The one on Ebay lacks that ring an therefore wouldn't fit a 3/4-1 ton wheel. Does your Longhorn have different wheels?? I tried to post what I'm talking about but I could'nt get it to post, so I'll e-mail the pictures to you so you can post them up on this Message board. Could you post a picture of your wheel so I can see what you have?
Thanks!

Here ya go! My truck had split rims before, but these are solid 16.5x8.25's with the clips. I don't have a picture of the back of the hubcaps, but I'll get one this weekend for you... my e-mail is thecatseye66@prodigy.net

I figured out how to post the pictures...apparently after you posted your pictures! So then, you know the ring I'm talking about...then why would you think the ones on Ebay would work on 3/4ton if it does NOT have that ring in the back....Or did I totally missunderstand what you were saying ??
Thanks

You are right, 69oldie...

I didn't even notice the reduction-like flange piece was missing on the back of the one on e-bay (there are two and they are getting a few more bids now). The orange painted one I bought at the local place had that flange on it so I wasn't making the connection about the difference you were talking about, sorry about that. You are right, without that piece they won't fit our wheels. I hope some other members don't overpay for something they will have to modify or turns out to be useless...

(My truck isn't a Longhorn...)

There ought to be an FAQ (KRUE) about hubcap differences.
That guy is a workhorse. Glad to see his posts.

Here is a picture of some NOS standard painted 68 hub caps I saw on e-bay a couple of years ago.

I think the chrome ones are the simiar with the black outer and inner rings and the orange bowtie.

Tom...I will take them...LOL! Are those the STANDARD hubcaps? The ones I am looking for are similar except they are polished stainless. I think the polished stainless were the CST option. I need an NOS set too!

LOL, Mike. I only lifted the picture off of Ebay. I don't have them.

These are the standard painted 68 hub caps. The 68 CST package did not necessarily include any kind of a upgraded hub cap. My CST had the standard painted hub caps. The chrome version of the above was a seperate option. The full wheel covers were either dealer-installed or factory provided.

These things rarely show up. If you had an NOS set of chromies you could pretty much name your price. Somebody is gonna pay it.

Nice shiny ones like those $150-200...rusty ones $10-20.
The Chev cap is NOS. It went with three other "nice" caps to Rene/Castiron9.
Remember there were GMC caps too.
The orange only were '67 and the red & black were '68...same cap/different paint.
