how much does a 82 shortbed chevy weigh, how much does the tailgate, and bumper weigh?

I'd guess about 3,800 lbs.

I would agree with 3800. My 84 stepside weighed that much with me and a 1/2 tank of gas at the scrap yard last time I went.

Yes, but just slightly. The curb weight of a Stepside is at 3,423 lbs whereas for a Fleetside the curb weight is at 3,470 lbs. Add 450 lbs. (+/- 150lbs.) for the model weight.

I would guess a fleetside tailgate weights between 50-60 lbs. The bumper around 30-40 lbs depending on the type.

The weight scale at the local gravel pit weights in my truck between 4,500 - 4,600 lbs.
