Advanced timing??
My 350 is running at 12 degrees right now. I was just wondering if I could go further or not. If so how do I know when to stop, I should get some spark knock or something uhh?

I'm assuming you have an HEI?
Well, it's a by-ear thing. When the timing is really advanced you'll have the best idle but early pinging (detonation, spark-knock) will occur-usually under load as soon as you drive it. The trick is to find out what kind of timing allows for a smooth ide with NO detonation. There are more scientific measures to adjust your vaccuum advance unit on the HEI distributor to match the application (street/strip, towing, heavy mileage), but unless you're application is "bread-winner" I don't think we need that kind of attention. Good luck!

If you get to much timing you will get some pinging, and it can give you hard starts when the engine is hot.
