Door speakers???

Since my doors have already been cut out.....what kind of 6x9 speaker works best? Should I look for weatherproof speakers since water may leak into the door by the glass? Any thoughts........Thanks

I usually buy the cheaper 6x9's like Sony explodes or something like that. I think the cones are some kind of plastic. These have been in there for a couple of years. Crutchfield use to sell some buckets that they fit in to help keep water off of them. Not sure they still have them.

I`ve always thought about the leakage. But,just buy what I want.I`ve only had one pair go bad over the years and they lasted at least ten years.Keep good wipers on it.

Thanks to all, especially neonlarry, that's exactly what I was looking for a couple days ago and gave up.

Will use the baffles and the Sony xplods, they're good speakers for the money.

Thumbs up

I was talking to A guy at the local stereo shop, He was saying that the baffles even improve the sound from the speaker. In his opinion

Speaker baffles can inprove the sound on a speaker. Putting them in a baffle is almost the same as putting them in a box instead of a free air space (door panel) The stiffer the baffles are, the better the speakers themselves will sound. Also, let's see some pics of the speakers mounted when you get them in.
