tubular control arms

if I do a 1.5-2 inch xmember drop and run a 26 inch tall tire will I need to run tubular control arms to get it on the ground

NO the only advantage to tubular lowers is that the arms are the closets things to the ground on these trucks. Moding the arms would be a extensive job on the lowers. With the uppers the only advantage would be to correct some of the slight alignment issues that you would normally encounter with a lowered truck and factory arms.

can I just change the uppers so I won't have allignment issues also are you saying that all that I would need is a 1.5 inch xmember drop and the 2.5 inch drop spindles I have now to lay the frame down

Go measure the height of your frame rail under your cab, then go measure your front crossmember height. What is the difference in the measurements? As long as the lower control arm and crossmember are the same height as the frame you should be fine. One of the trucks I did had a 26" tall tire and was close to laying the frame on the ground without the crossmember drop.

This is my setup with JUST my bag setup (deflated) under it before I chopped the crossmember. There is NO spindles on there and stock height springs. The tires were about 28" tall.



As you can see, I was already on the ground.
