Weird Idle Question

Good news: I got my rocker arms installed and adjusted, then went out for a Saturday afternoon drive.

Bad news: The truck ran good before I started all of this, now it wants to die at stop lights at idle. It seems if I don't have my foot on the gas it will die. It started out that it ran fine at idle when in park and any gear for that matter. Now, after a quick drive, it will die in idle no matter what gear. It seems to stay running longer with no load on the engine but still dies sooner or later. The truck sat for a little while without running (a month?). Bad gas, maybe? Fuel pump? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

kinda sounds to me like everything got broke in sum !!! reset the timing and see if that helps if it dont adjust the rockers again and reset the timing

If the new rockers have a higher ratio to open the valves further, it will effect bottom end power and may require more timing advance and a higher idle speed. It effects manifold vacuum which can effect the idle mix on the carb also. Just sounds like it needs a little more tuning.

Thanks for all of the info. I bought the same rockers that were in before, so I think maybe it just needs a some quality time with the timing light. At least its drivable. Feels so good to have it back out on the road. Thanks Again

Just incase you didn't, make sure you adjust your rockers with the engine hot

Hmmmm, I went out yesterday and the thing ran fine. I checked everything anyway and it all looks good. Thanks for all of the tips.
