72 stepside on 87 k20 frame? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I am trying to weasel my friend out of this 72 stepside (2WD). I have an 87 body on an older 3/4 ton frame (dana 44 front, Th400 and 14 bolt rear), and want to cut the frame to fit the 72 stepside. I received some advice from a guy on here a while back who put a 67-72 on a newer frame, can't remember who it was. I got another frame for the K20 because the existing frame is rotted where the front mounts of the rear springs are located. This other frame is pretty decent, just needs some wire wheel work, and POR15 to get started. Should I convert to a Blazer tank do you think? How many gallons do they hold? I am planning on using the 87 truck EFI, if possible. Any ideas on how to go about shortening the frame (where, and how? measurements I need to consider?). I wouldn't do it myself, but have a custom welding shop (large shop, do a lot of vehicle work it seems) DIRECTLY across the street from my subdivision. Any words of advice? I am hoping to scrape together the money to buy the stepside over the next couple of months... big finances!!! ha ha ha. Thanks guys!
