I run my 3 speed without the cover on. I found it rubbed on the flywheel and made a ticking noise. Just about any scrap yard would have one

I looked them up at the NAPA website: www.napaonline.com
Click on "Choose new vehicle", then add your vehicle and search for keyword: CLUTCH. The boot should be in the list. Take the part number to your local store. Costs less than $10

Got the part number for you: Napa PT#: BK 6151503
I would visually inspect the part before purchasing to make sure it's correct. This was a search done for a '68 with a 250 L6 motor.

Thanks for all the help. Shifty, I ordered one from Napa this afternoon. Not sure what the part # was. The counter guy was about as useful as a broken screwdriver.
