Help!!!!!!!!!!!!
I need some help with spark plugs. I went to parts store and got the "correct" plugs for my 1969 Suburban, R43. I come home and pull out the first plug and guess what it's different than the ones I got, R45T. Which one is correct?

not much diff in the plugs. i've got 45's in my 350 and 454, and the 43's in my 4.3 v6. they may work at a diff temp or have different lengths or????? but they're all pretty much similar. just gap em around .45 if you have hei and you should be fine.

Here is a link that is pretty helpful and you may want to book mark it.
The R43 does not have a tapered seat but R43T does. S= extended tip, x=wider gap. I like to use the R45TSX based on the way I drive, (mostly short trips). The number breaks down like this: R=resistor 45=heat range, (larger no is hotter plug) T=tapered seat S=exteded tip X=wider gap Using the plug with the X is a good practice with HEI as the spark plugs are gapped wider and the bendable tip can be kept parellel to the other tip. Plugs without the X will work, however. Jim http://www.acdelco.com/html/pi_plugs_ident.htm |

Thanks Jim,
If I use the R45TXS with the points, should I still gap it at .035? Rob

My research says with points... gap at .035, unless you are using an aftermarket high output coil, then my best advice is to gap at .040.
