NP205 oil seals are hard to locate??? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

One of the 2 rubber seals that goes inside the adapter between the TH350 tranny and NP205 in my truck has gone bad, and oil and trans fluid are sloshing back and forth.

To my surprise, the local GM dealer in my area can not seem to locate the seals. In fact, they can't even cross reference them to find out which ones to order. There are little numbers on the seals and everything, and the guys behind the counter still can't figure it out.

Anybody know where to buy these seals? Or what the new GM parts number is?

go to your local bearing supply place. they can supply them.

Yup, a bearing sales store will just pull or cross the p/ns on your seals.

Make sure to check and probably replace the o-ring on the t-case input shaft. I have had two 350/205 setups that leaked from that seal not the ones directly in the adapter.

tell your dealer to look in group 4.515. the part number 3979626 should be the seal that you require, but check your application with your dealer, Be sure and use a GM seal as I've not had good luck with aftermarket seals. The part number shows to fit just about everything GM makes that had a NP205.

My dad hooked me up with this part number, and it turned out to be the transfer case shifter slide seals. The part number for the seal between my tcase and trans was 3968050. Its all back under the truck though, and now it doesnt leak
