Longhorn beds are longer than other fleetside beds. Where is that extra length, in front of the wheel wells or behind?

6" in front. The wheel base is 133 v. 127 for 8' truck.

Yeah, the addition is at the beginning of the bed, right after the cab. Hope this helps.

Not truely a Longhorn (because Longhorns were a fleet side), but the 9 foot long step sides were on the 133" wheel base. They were made as a whole bedside (not adding to an 8 foot bed). When parked next to an 8 foot long stepside truck, you can see that the 9 foot bed is 6" longer in front and behind the wheel well.

Did you ever consider keeping VIN records, and data plate info for all these that you have located?
I have seen several lately and know more could pop up from time to time

I've thought about it, but personally, I have enough problems keeping my check book straight...I'd screw it all up if I did a longhorn registry. I've thought of it...many many times. Plus, there were over 42,000 chevys, plus who knows how many GMC versions...that's a lot of trucks to keep track of.

There are some sites that have members who submit it all! I could offer to do it!
I would just need the info to come in.
My only concerns were that manipulated info could be submitted if the vehicle is not somewhere it could be verified by someone!
All the talk of trim tag swapping on other models besides our trucks seems to be rampant these days.
I dont care about color changes, but then again, if authenticty were an issue, then keeping an accurate record of what originals are left is considerable

There are many that sell on eBay, and other places, and images of the info are provided there, so these #s could be recorded as found!

Longhorn Man, that is some very good info on your site! I know what you mean about having "one of those days".
I think it is a Longhorn that I have seen rolling around in Joliet, IL. It is slammed and red/white 2 tone. Probably not factory. Next time I see it I'll try and get some pictures and the story from the guy if you wanna ad it to your site.

www.freeservers.com is a freebe as is www.geocities.com . I have used both, and honestly ain't too impressed with either one. Geocities ticked me off a few years ago when they lost all my pics. (I ahd 50 pages at the time) and then they started a limited bandwith thing. if too many ppl looked at my site within an hr, they would close it down.
So i dumped them.
I have been thinking more and more about looking into having a GM sponsered site...I may even have the connections now too.

My wife's dad has a 68 chevy 4X4 and once the bed was rusted so he got another bed for it but he always said it was too long because it didn't come from a 4X4 because they were diferent. He said it set closer to the cab than the old one and when he got the truck in a bind it would hit the cab. I thought he was exagerating but could it be that the bed he put on it is a longhorn bed?

my dad has the 69 1ton 133"wb with the 9' stepside bed. comes in handy for moving. people are amazed how much stuff you can move. It will also fit a 92 longtrack snowmobile with the tailgate closed!

The wheel base is 133 v. 127 for 8' truck. __________________ 1970 K25, 8' stepside bed 350/465/205 44 up front, 60 in the rear 4.10s rolling on 33" Dunlop MTs 1986 K5, 350/465/208 Dana 60/14 bolt from a cucv 36" Super Swampers TSL/SX 1983 K20 w/ CUCV axles, 350/700R4/208 sitting on 37" Goodyears 1986 M1031 6.2 diesel, TH400/NP205 locker in the rear and a LS in the front, all stock for now..... 1986 K30, 350/400/205 dana 60 and 14 bolt. I kept the drivetrain. Body/bad and chassis are gone. 1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed. 1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm
