My bench seat cover is toast, and a new one is about $150. Then, when I get the cover on, I still have an old seat that wasn't that comfortable to begin with. I'm thinking of going to buckets, or some sort of bench that is more comfortable. I know it's been done, but are there any links to conversions that were relatively easy? How about newer model Chevrolet truck seats? My interior is red, which somewhat limits other seats I can choose from, unless I put in grey or black. I'd rather stick with red, and they need to be manual rather than power. What say ye?

I put a 60/40 bench with center console from a 95' to 98' chevy in mine. There are pictures of my seats on this forum from a few months ago, but I'm not sure how to find that post now.

Did you bolt your new seat to the old rails, or modify the new rails, or...?

The brackets on the new seats are too tall because newer trucks have a flat floor, and our old trucks have the big hump on each side. We took some flat steel and hammered it into the form of the floor. After a lot of measuring we cut the brackets on the new seats and welded our formed piece to it. We drilled new holes and bolted the seats to the floor.

If you decide to go this route you can copy my brackets since we live in the same area. My new seats came with a bracket with manual slide. The stuff is also there to make them power. If you can find a good deal on some 95’ to 98’ seats, I think it turned out pretty good.

The only bracket i had to make was the front inside leg on each seat. The seats are from an 02 sonata I got the seat belts also since they are part of the seat. If you are going with buckets watch the thickness of the backs if you are not careful you will be to close to the steering wheel. I have seen our trucks with 02 gran am seats also.

I put the bench out of a '92 F@rd F150 into mine. Had to drill new holes in the floor and use some reinforcing plates but it is very comfortable. And it has a center arm rest which folds down. Just an option of you want to keep a bench.

I have been considering the same thing, and I really like the 93-02 dodge truck seats...the buckets with centerconsole/seat/armrest......anyone done that swap?

Air ride? Sorry to inform you, But I do not think your Air ride seats will win anything. As far as I know, these are only for Big Rigs. I moght be wrong but will not ever be in "my" truck! Do you have Air ride in your truck? MO

Air ride seats are awesome? Sure they're for big rigs and fork lifts and other industrial equipment, but why not in a fullsize truck? It's not like it won't fit or is against "the rules." When I get my truck that's gonna be something I wanna do, especially if I get 12" lift springs...soften up that ride.

I thought these pics of Greenlee's truck should be included in this discussion, since I can't be the only guy that would like to have nicer seats than stock. And I think it's a nice truck with nice seats!

This what I have for the time being. I would like to ditch them for another set with a mtching console. I got them out of a 83 Suburban, don't think they where original because they are actually captains chairs. They are comfy, but need to be re-covered. I had to drill one hole for each seat.
