seat belts...

hey guys,
im new on the forum and was wondering if you guys could help me out, i recently got my truck to the point of being able to drive it, but i have no seat belts and need to get it inspected in NJ. Its a 72, and i was wondering if they only had lap belts in them or three points.
The cab i have is from a pre 72 so it has circular disks where i assume the three points would bolt up.

If i could for now i would just like to get through inspection and then i can drive it around as i finish it up, three years of tinkering with the thing, now i just want to drive it

thanks for your help in advance

Shoulder belts are pretty rare. The disc is just a plug, the cab is already threaded.

Hey! Welcome to the board from NJ! I didn't get hassled at all with my 72 Burb. Lap belts are fine. If you want to put in 3 pt belts, you can use the belts from an S10 or I have also seen the 88+ fullsize belts being used.

What kind of insurance are you running? If you have collectors insurance on it, you qualify for the "QQ" antique car license plates which makes you inspection exempt or you could use regular license plates and get a "collectors registration voucher" from your local DMV(looks like your registration card, cost's an additional $20) and the only thing they check is the odometer, this will give you a special triangle shaped inspection sticker...

Where are you from? Lets see some pictures!!!!

It basically "piggybacks" the current registration on the vehicle. When you go to the DMV, ask them for an application for a "collector vehicle voucher". It is a white card the same size as a registration renewal card. Just fill it out and take it back up. They have to go to a special screen to process it, takes all of 3 minutes. I am running it on both my 91' Sierra and my 72' Burb.

As far as posting pics, first off, make sure they aren't too big... When you are starting a new thread or replying to a post(not using "Quick Reply"), scroll down the screen below the box you type into. Look for a button that say's "Manage Attachments". Click it, upload file(s) and away ya go!

You can buy some "universal type" lap belts pretty much at any automotive store. They are quite inexspensive (shd be around $30-$40 US) and conform to the safety standards. I'd make sure to get new hardware to mount them with also. This is what I did for my truck and I bought some original oem black belts not long ago (lap belts, left/middle/right for 3 people) and will be installing them soon. And welcome to the board, Doug
