'86 305 block question
My '86 K10 has the SM465 4-speed and a hydraulic clutch. I'm planning on replacing the original 305 with a 400 and am wondering if there's a pivot ball or any other MT-specific parts that will need to be transferred from the 305 block to the 400, and whether or not the 400 (1973 model year) will already have already received the necessary machining. Thanks!

your 86 should have a hydraulic clutch if its factory. if it does have a hydraulic clutch, there is no pivot ball, which is for the clutch linkage and a hydraulic setup has no linkage. should be a bolt on deal as far as mating the 400 to a SM465 hydro setup. you will need a 400 flywheel as the 305 flywheel is a) balanced wrong (although it is still externally balanced - if its an 86 305) and b) the bolt pattern where it bolts to the crank is different.
