Does your ISP have some web space for you? I thought most of them did.

If you want to get a URL, check out Register.com. You can search URL's and see what is available. I don't know if they are the cheapest place to buy the URL, but they are all about the same. If you can't find a free site host, try http://pair.com/. Their site hosting starts at $5.95/mo! They are also one of the few ISPs that is actually profitable, so the chances of them going bankrupt and locking up your account and URL are a lot less likely.

If you are wanting to register a domain don't go with register.com.. very expensive.. same with network solutions. Go to godaddy.com if your a looking to register a domain. They are cheap and fast.

Thanks for all the info.
I guess I'll have to pay something for a custom address. But do you think I can start with a free no name adress and site then change the name when I get it up and going good?

If you can put up with all the adds, try Freehomepage.Com. You can also buy different packages that do not have the adds. I'm on Freehomepage.Com now. Click and checkout my sight.

While not fre, geo-cities will let you put your own name on your site, and they are very easy to do since you don't need to know HTML codes.
You can do a free site with them, and then upgrade to a pay-per-month and rename the site. |
