Just like it says..... possibly looking for some slightly used vortecs if the price is right. DFW area would be even better.

If your searching for a vortec to run a factory roller cam that is not necessary. I am still learning about these trucks but I do know my engines. All you need is the spider and lifter guides off of a factory roller engine, tap three bolts to hold down spider and use a roller cam plate on front of engine. There are a few clearencing prob you may run into when installing lifter guides but can be easily fixed with a die grinder. As for the heads they are pretty cheap from gm

I read over on the engine & drivetrain board that GM dealers will sell re-buildable vortec cores for around $100. Because that is what they get from the factory to turn them back in. I have not comfirmed this myself but it sounds like it's worth a call to the dealer parts dept.

Jamal, I'm not running a factory roller cam on this one.... just a Crane hyd flat tappet. I just need some Vortecs & will have them cut for screw in studs & set them up to handle .480 lift w/o reliability issues.

Americanrider, thanks for the tip. I've got a buddy that works for a GM dealership so I'll have to ask him about it.
