crews you don't get rid of a "rare" thing like that. you need to do it little by little until it is done. if it takes 10 years to fix so what? look at the outcome. truck will be even more rare in 10 years! got to ask yourself have you EVER seen one of those trucks restored? i haven't.....it would be truely one of a kind. bottom line is when you get down on it, or think you can't go on any more talk to us again and pull this thread back up. keep motivated!

Thanks for all of the encouragement guys!! It is starting to pay off!!

Oh and Tree- Thanks for the compliment...you should see how much the sun "didn't" agree with me!! I sunburned pretty bad Sat!!

Nice! Glad to hear it's goin' good for ya now... Did ya think about the "side marker fill"? I think there's an FAQ floatin' around somewhere on it... Maybe we can catch a beer at the Carlilse Truck Nat's next year with it????

Joe- Yeah I looked at the side marker fill thread...the only problem is with a long bed, the filler neck is WAY forward of the side marker so I don't know if it will work very well...I had an old filler door from a mid 80's Sub that I was going to use, but I can't seem to find it now..

I may do a junkyard run this week to find something to use, but I am leaning towards a filler door on the inside of the bed..I have to do some checking though...

I hope that this thing is ready for the road soon...at least reliability wise...it will be some time before it is "presentable"...

Carlisle would be cool though!!!

*update*- I actually got the bed back on after some minor interference...it is now running, but I still have not solved the fuel filler dilema...I am going to go to the parts store tomoorow for a longer piece of filler hose...

Heres a few pics of the project in progress...

I don't know how old you're children are, but you say that you have little time for the family with the job. Well here's your chance to spend some real quality time with the kids. you both can lean from each other as you fix it up. If your kinds are young... yes you may be a able to get things done faster with out them around, but think of the time you get to spend with them they are only young once, and when they are older they will look back with fondness of the days spent with dad working on that old truck..

IF I were you I would keep it and find every reason possible to get the family involved in working together fixing that truck

Just my $ .02
