Never heard of those. I'm well stocked with 134A and R-12 for awhile.

Never used thoses, but I've been using "Freeze 12" as a drop in replacement in the state vehicles that I maintain for a couple of years now, and have had no problems at all.

Freeze 12 is the best r12 replacement I've found and used, it cools about like 134a, but is more friendly to an R12 system... Never heard of the others.

I use this stuff called "Autofrost" in my '72. It works very well in an R12 system. Cools the air at the vents down to 40° F. I bought a 25# Bottle about 3-years ago. The truck leaks a bit and I have to add a pound or two every year. I'll probably buy another bottle next spring.

The info on the duracool sire alludes to R134 eventually ending up on the chopping block with R-12. Instead of ozone depletion the hazard is supposed to be global warming.

I don't consider myself to be the tree-hugging type but I do try to keep my hazmat down to a minimum. This stuff is supposed to be 30 odd percent more effiecient than R134 and about the same performance as R-12. Price is a lil more expensive than R-134. All that said, I'm interested.

I have nearly all of my a/c bits and pieces together. I just need some hoses custom made and a few lines bent up. Hopefully, I'll have it up and going before winter hits. It's a money thing ya know.

Still on the fence for the refrigerant. If I use something other than 12 or 134 I'll post my results. Don;t hold your breath though, winter is a few months away.

If anyone does have experiance with the hydrocarbon refrigerants, I too would like to know about it.

Edit: Newin72, thanks for the heads-up. I would have never found this info otherwise.

Hey Josh, I had my system recharged with freeze12 and I was wondering, how cold should it be getting? The coldest reading I have gotten is 50 degrees. My brother in law filled it and he put in the oil charge 8oz. and two and a half 12 ounce cans. But there is still bubbles showing in the sight glass on the dryer. I always thought if there were bubbles that it was low on freon?

Yes, he pulled a vaccum and it held at 22 psi for over an hour.
