Slider lock ?

I'm going to pick up a factory sliding window from a 70 that I found in a yard, but it is missing the catch to keep them closed. Anyone know where I can get one, or anyone have a close up pic of one so that I can fab one close to it?

Scott

I did have a 82 gmc once that had a latch that was really similar if memory serves correct...might be easier to find than one of these.

Chad,

That would be great whenever you get a chance. Considering there is nothing left of the latch on this one, I can't even begin to look at others to see if they are similar, but for $20 I can't pass it up.

Here are a couple of pictures of the lock on my 67. Not sure if it's a factory fitted option though. I would have thought that you should be able to pick something similar up from a good hardware store.

There are a lot of slider latches that will work on the sliders on the newer trucks. If you have a yard close by, take a look at the chevy trucks with sliders. I found one that was the same as the original slider on our 71 and it was on a 75 Chevy truck slider.

From what I have seen, slider latches are very common.

It's been about 6 years ago, but I bought my new latch at the GM dealership.

Classic industries sells a later modle latch that looks and works on the factory window. It's a plastic one. If I remember right, Prestige was a dealer install, they made aftermarkets for lots of trucks. Prob some of the dealers were using them instead of the camper special factory one

Got mine from the "Help" section at Advance auto. It is black plastic and was listed for 73-up but fit perfectly. It comes with all the parts needed to install and was under $5.00

Are there any latches that actually lock so that if a window is smashed you can't open the whole slider?

Scott, mine looks just like the one Lippyp posted, only it's black and doesn't say prestige.

That black latch looks exactly like the one I got from the Help section. The slider window looks just like mine and I believe it to be stock.
