Thumbs up Gauges

Prices of the gauges you'd have to look up since they change year to year. I think the small gauges average about $40ea multiply times five, the tach is around $100 and the 3 3/8 speedo close to $200. Approx $550 w/material and shipping.
Made a plate and attached it behind the dash for the gauages to mount to and attached the cover to it from the front like stock so the wiper and head light switch remained stock. Hardest thing ,besides the pain in the wallet, is all the wiring and replacing sensors.

I think any custom touch you do to your trucks look great. Could you imagine how boring it would be if everyone stuck to one specific for these trucks? I plan on doing ALOT of custom things to the interior of my 72 and I could care less what anyone thinks. In the end, it's you that has to look at this truck and drive it every day. Whether it a cut dash or not and as long as it's done properly and looks nice, that's all i would care about. I have thought about building my own headliner unit to house my Kenwood unit and 2 speakers. I think they add to the personality of the truck. But I am going with a floor mount console that will house 2 speakers, my deck, maybe some cupholders and sex lights too.

THOR 50, I noticed your guage set-up & think it looks great. I took apart an extra original cluster a while back & have been playing around w/the same basic idea but got side-tracked & didn't finish it. I am curious about what layout you chose for the guages. It looks like:

From the left, Top: 5" speedo; 3 3/8oil press; 5" tach. Bottom: (2 1/8) fuel level; voltmeter?; ?; ?.

Anyhow, looks cool- great job(it inspired me to climb into the attic & dig some stuff out to finish).

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Sex lights are a throw back from the 60's and 70's. You mount 2 or more small lights (usually red) uder the dash or somewhere else where they won't be seen. Then when it turns dark you hit the switch and it makes the inside of your cab glow whatever color the lights are. In my case, they will be orange. Just a simple little custom touch. Thinkin i might make a glowing bowtie in the dash too.
