finished shaving the back 2 stake pockets today. time to get the front ones tomorrow. i cut some metal from my old camaro hood and beveled the edges of the stake pockets and metal. then i dropped em in and welded em up.

Looks real good. But, you posted prep, fit and finished pics... But where are the pics showing off the bead work.

Have you finished the front yet?
BTW, what kind of welder (and the wire size) are you using?

Looking good. I have never used stake pockets for stakes. But some folks use them for rails that fit in them. I like the OE rails myself. Great job.

once i got everything prepped up i just kept working and never really stopped to get more pics

. i just kept tacking and going in circles. i was staying busy between the welds cooling down by smoothing out some slight dents on top of the rails.
i have a century 120v 140 amp welder. i run .24 wire and 75/25 gas mix. i also have a hobart auto dim hood, which helps a ton. it's night and day from a non dimming hood.
thanks for all the compliments guys, next up is the gas door, which i'm sure is gonna be a lot more tricky
