New here pics of my 66 project.
I've been reading this board for some time and i decided to start posting. I have a 66 Chevy C10 Lwb. I'm still tearing it apart and cleaning up the frame but I put the front end on and set it down to see how low it would be. I did the crossmember drop and got it pretty low. I'm still debating on going lower but I decide on that later. Here are some pics. Feedback is always welcome.

The best I can explain it is where you cut out the mounting points on the crossmember and drop them down and weld them back in. This effectivly raises th crossmember. I'm probably gonna just take out the cab mounts and put in shorter ones so I can get the extra drop to lay rocker.Theres no point in doing a traditional body drop on these trucks. You can get them on the rockers pretty easy.

Go to http://www.captkaoscustoms.com/suicidal.html. Go to how to projects and then click chopped crossmember how-to. This explains it pretty well. I didn't actually section the center part like that guy did but it gives you the idea.

It doesn't lay frame, just the front of the control arm. Its about 2"-2.5" from laying the bottom of the rocker. But i'm still gonna go lower. Just requires a little more work.

How much did you take out of the crossmember? When you do a crossmember drop you should lay frame? Maybe when you get the back down it will level it out and put the rails on the ground. 1.5" out of the crossmember is enough to get the A-arms above the bottom frame line

Oh ya, and what else are your plans? If you were planning on doing a Z, please dont. There is no need for this and it is unsafe. I jsut joined this site and have already seen like 3 people that Z'ed their frame and I think its a dangerous, worthless modification. This is of coarse, in my own opinion. I have 1.5" crossmember drop, 3" spindles, raised motor/tranny, made my own bag plate(upper) and cup(lower) to get my frame flat on the ground. Its on 245/35/20's right now and also lays on 265/30/22's. It laid on 15's with out the spindles. You can't go any lower than laying frame unless you move your body mounting points down, not moving your suspension mounting points up... So I think Z'ing is pointless, especially with a crossmember drop. unless of coarse you want to run bigger diameter tires than 265/30/22's which is 28.3.

Yeah, I got blocks on the way. I'm hoping it gets a little lower. The front of the control arms hit the ground but the back doesn't, so I know it can go lower. I'm not gonna z the frame. But I'm probably gonna change out the cab mounts and put shorter ones in. That should give me at least an inch. The crossmember gave me 1.25" but it didn't get as low as everyone said. I guess it all depends on the truck. But it will lay rocker one way or another.
