Quick bed question
One of my neighbors has a '69 Chevy shortbed fleetside he's been working on for a while now...and I know one of the things he has planned for it eventually is a wood bed. His steel floor, however, is nearly flawless, as opposed to mine, which is...well...used. The paint doesn't match (not at all, lol), but it's not a big deal, since it's going to go under a bedliner if I do it. Does the bed floor simply bolt on / unbolt from the rest of the bed? Or is it welded on at all?

I just went and checkedboth my beds, and they seem to be bolted on. But I'm sure there has to be a weld or 2 on there.

I think it's just bolted on. Just had my bed off over the weekend, and didn't see any welds.

Yes it is welded at the bottom of the rear stake pockets. The best way to seperate the bed floor from the bed sides is a thin cut off wheel attached to an air powered cut off tool or a small electric grinder. Just be very careful, and wear full face protection if you can.
