66 Power Brake Conversion
New member here! I recently bought a "66 C10 SW with 305/350. I want to convert to power brakes with dual master cylinder for a drum/drum application. I will buy the parts (Booster/Master cylinder comination, Check valve, Lines and new Hoses) at a local Autozone and pay the $35 core as it is not worth trying to find a core at a salvage yard. My question is...What year truck should I order the parts for and are there optons I should include? Any other advise appreciated as well.

Welcome to the board from Louisiana, I'm running a 71-72 disc brake setup (converted to 5 lug ) on my 65. So I would think that you could run a 67-70 brake setup without too many problems, as these years still had 6 lug and drum brakes. I used the brake lines and hoses off of a 72 pickup. They were a bolt in except that I had to weld tabs to the frame for the line-hose connection. The booster was almost a bolt in. I think that I had to drill 2 holes. The other holes lined up. Had to do a little work to make the brake pedal rod work but nothing major. Hope this helps! Kevin

I used one from a 1980 C10, two bolts line up, drilled the others. Had to finesse w/the rod like 65streetcrusier. Brian

I put the complete crossmember out of a 1975 Chevy into my 1966 GMC. It all lined up, except 2 holes that I had to drill.
Here some photos to look at: http://www.misterw.com/GMC/ |

Thanks for the input. It looks like several years will work. Ordering parts for a '69 sounds like a safe bet. I will post results.
