Pesky transmission leak......

Well, without the "search function" hard to look this up and also to find my old thread----here goes:
Got a 84 C10 -w- modded 305 and a 350 trans....has had a pesky leak of transmission fluid from around the front of the yoke; rear of the trans where it connects to the driveshaft---replaced the rear seal twice, replaced the smaller "little known" yoke gasket as well

(see here: .http://www.73-87.com/7387garage/drivetrain/yokeleak.htm )

......seemed to stop my problem, but looked under there this morning---there is that pesky puddle again......any other ideas from the forum??? This is getting to be quite a nuisance.......!!

There's something with a dimple hole or something on the Ujoiont? the yoke? somewhere near there, there is a drain hole that when parked on a slope, leaks the fluid rather than whatever its supposed to do. Sorry i don't know exactly what it is, but there's a picture floating around of what it is.

Yeah, if you look at the website I posted above, there is a weep hole and I replaced the gasket that goes up in there too to keep that from happening (great pictures on that website too)----should have taken care of the problem......UGH!!!

I Don't Know This At All But Could Your Problem Be The Fact That Your ( Yoke , Shaft What Ever You Call It) That Goes Into The Trans Is Maybe Shorter Than It's Meant To Be Or Its Too Long And Damaging The Seal You Keep Replacing Idon't Know But Kinda Makes Sence To A Shade Tree Mec. Like Me? P.s. I Have No Shade Tree Either

I don't know either, but that makes sense too---I sure thought replacing that yoke weep hole gasket would do the trick----any other thoughts out there??

BTW, I must be a Barney Rubble or something....I cannot find that "search" button that is mentioned above.....previous post stated it was at the top.......

take the driveshaft out, and put a piece of cardboard in the inside of teh yoke. Sounds redneck, but that should stop your leak.

The fix you mentioned should have involved replacing an o-ring rather than a gasket. Did you fix the right thing?

Could it be leaking at the speedo cable? Mine leaked from both, and I did not realize it was two leaks a first.

The search is in the box at the top of the page that says "Google."

Sorry, misquoted myself....it was the "O" ring that was replaced as well as the rear seal (twice.....). If it is the speedometer gasket/seal, would it appear to be coming from the yoke/front of the driveshaft? It is dripping from there......overnight, it makes quite a puddle....

If it is leaking from the speedo cable, it will hit the ground near the spot where it comes out of the yoke, but it won't actually leave the yoke wet. I assumed it was still coming from the yoke based on the puddle location, but it was actually coming from the cable. I was able to tell exactly where it was coming from by looking at both from undrneath the truck. If you see drops on the yoke, it is probably coming from the yoke.
