radio help/info needed for 61 chevy
Does anyone have a picture/ part number for a 1961 truck radio? Also what other yearsare interchangable. I bought a truck in CA and I'm driving it back to NJ but it doesnt have a radio. Its a stock truck so I want to put an original in.
Thanks Handyman |

The stock AM radio's from '60-'63 C10's are the same, and the '64-'66 C10 trucks are the same. If you want to listen to the FM band, you can pick up an aftermarket radio that fits into the stock opening, no modifying to the dash required.
The stock speakers were mounted under the middle of the dash, the truck supply companies sells a new aftermarket one that bolts in here to replace the old one. Or you can mount speakers on the kick panels with the panel forms they sell for the '60-'66 trucks. I wanted to hear tunes while on road trips, and wanted a aftermarket radio deck. I didn't have the heart to hack up the dash in my '62, so I mounted a cd player deck int eh glove box. I also mounted tweets under the dash, one at either end, and you don't see them, but you can hear them pretty good. : I also mounted some subs under the bench seat for some bass. David
