DEAD HORSE: what is it worth 68 SWB?

I know, I know ... done a thousand times. Just doing a sanity check before I buy it. I am looking at a 1968 Chevy SWB fleetside, 350, T350 trans, lowered 4-6", disk brakes on front, shaved door handles, no rust to be seen, minor dents/dings here and there, not a/c, p/s, p/b, 10 bolt posi 3:73, %"tach with matching gauges, B&M floor shifter. The motor is a 355, dart heads(not aluminum), headers, g team intake, MSD electrics, Holley 750DP, suppose to be forged crank and pistons(11.5-1). Motor does not run, the guy said it jump time or chain is stretched. Missing gauge housing, interior is old but there, primed, gas tank in the bed(fuel cell 15 gal), windshield broken/cracked) older rims with some rust on them fair tires.

I know without pics it is hard to tell, but trying to get a ball park estimate. Asking price is $2000, but he needs to sell bad.

If the Dart heads are in good shape they are worth a buck or two. Actually I'm looking for a set. The Posi is a good thing too. That truck has a lot of valueable parts on it. As for fixing it up, it all depends on how you want to fix it up. Alot of work would be required to get it back to an origional truck. If your looking for a slammed and trimmed truck this could be the way to go since some of the work is already done. Just make sure it is quality work since it is harder to go back and redo then it is to do it yourself from an origional. With the drop on the truck I would also want to jack the truck up and carefully inspect the frame for any alterations, damage, or severe rust (not normally a problem in texas unless your by the coast). Also make sure the title is free and clear. If you live close to Mexico I've heard you can have problems with this.

Thats a lot of motor to only have a 15 gal fuel tank. The 10 bolt rear is not original. wonder how he switched to disk front? Hope it was done right. All in all it sounds good, but you may find that stuff wasnt done right. and that motor just "jumping timing" doesnt sound right. and a streched chain wouldn't make it not run. Still it is probablly worth it.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing on the price, just wanted a sanity check from you guys. I actually think I can get it for the $1200-1500 range. I was thinking of a slammed, shaved, 4L60/700R4 trans, canary yellow with silver ghost flames, black interior and tame the motor down a bite(9.5 pistons), 17X8 rims and drive it like I stole it.
