Question about my StepSide Bed?
How do I tell if I have a 67-72 step bed or a 73-87 step bed.
I'm a little scared because I was just on Mar-K's web site and they said that the bolts on the angle strips (the ones spot welded to the bed side) were welded the the strips on 73+ beds. I thought my bed was a 67-72 but i just ground all the bolts off my angle strips cause they were welded onto them. were these bolts also welded to the angle strips on the 67-72 step beds or did i get screwed over when I bought this bed????

Check out this thread. It should tell you what you need to look at to see which bed you have.

After 30+ years they maybe corroded on enough to seem welded on. When I disasembled my 84 bed, many of the bolts came loose even though I think they were welded in. The ones on my 70 were not coming out no matter what I did, so they were either welded from the factory or welded through mother nature, cow-pee and time. You are probably going to want to replace them anyways, so it will not matter if the boltse were welded in or not.
Take some pictures and post them, especially the step areas and we'll be able to tell yo which year bedsides you have.

This is the best I got for now. Looks like I got screwed over. The Step area looks like the ones in Krue's 73+
The Bolts were most definatly welded from the factory - but I got them out. I just don't have time or $$$ or the energy to do more to this POS i'm already in to deep as it is. I don't have pieces to add to the Step area - so my steps won't fit. I'm in a different state than the sides right now and can't see them till friday but here is a Pic:

Son of a BIT*H!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Looks Like I'll be using your FAQ thread Krue....I hate people who mis-rep. thier stuff when selling it to you. The bed didn't have Fenders on it when i bought it but it was just sitting on the back of a '67 not bolted down - so i figured hey must be the right one...and he had a set of rotted '67 fenders sitting in the back of it as well so i figured i was good. More $$$$$$$ down the drain WTF i should go to his house and kick him in the balls

Not to mention I just this past week bought Mahogony boards to replace the rotted boards in the bed. My Grandfather and I milled them and drilled all the mounting holes...which are wrong now since the back cross sill mounts are different
More $$$$ down the drain...i'm going to have to get 2 new boards and do them again
