electrical woes

I'm trying to get the taillights working properly so I can put my truck back on the road...but it's not going so well
here's what's happening:

-all driving lights work fine

-Right turn signal works fine
- when I turn the left turn signal on, the ip lights(including tach and other added gauges) flash in sync with the t signals, also front right signal flashes, but not as bright

- when I press the brake pedal, the ip lights also come on
- also, when i press the b pedal, the taillights are only slightly brighter than when the lights are on

I guess it's a bad ground, but I took the ground strap off, and sanded around it but it didn't seem to make any difference.
Btw before I disconnected the rear harness when I removed the box last fall, everything worked fine. I have it all hooked up the way it was before, but still doesn't work properly.
Any thoughts guys?? Thanks
JAson

Not going to be a ground problem, 99% of the time if one of the filiments light up, then there is enough ground for the other one too.
It sounds to me like you have the wrong bulb in your tail light. Remove the lens, pop out the bulb, and look at how many filiments are in there...there should be two, it sounds to me like you have a back up lamp in there...or maybe the correct one that is shorted out internally.

Quick check for bad ground--run jumper from bed to frame.

thanks guys, I got all the bugs worked out. I found a wire that I didn't connect, but longhorn was also right, I accidently put an 1156 in the taillight socket

btw, are the front marker lights supposed to flash with the bumper signal lights flash?? Everything is working correctly now, but only the pass. side marker flashes when the bumper flashes?? it's been a while since i've had the truck on the road, but i'm pretty sure they both flashed before......hmmm

Bad bulb. Turn on parkings lights to see if bulb out.
