A-Arm shafts.
Just to let you all know these are an SOB to remove. If you don't have a hot wrench I would not even attemt to do it. Also it helps if you have a socket of the correct size. Since I have found out my Upper drivers A-Arm is bad and Lower Passenger side A-Arm are bad I have to remove these from my parts truck, I will have the proper sockets this time instead of banging my knuckles to heck using a pipe wrench.

I just did mine. fortunatley I have wrenches up to 1 7/8" so I just put them in the vise and wrenched it out. I was impressed with how little wear was on the shafts. In fact, I had bought all new hardware for the rebuild and the brand new parts had more play in them than the old parts. I just used the old parts and bought new seals for them.

Howdy:
Just finished up a major front end rebuild on my 67; ditto on needing the proper (huge, 3/4"drive, impact) sockets. As I didn't, nor any 3/4" drive breaker bars nor a 6 foot length of pipe to use as a handle extention, I took my arms to a shop equipped with air impact tools. THAT was easy! Couldn't see buying everything for a one time job if I didn't have other use for it all. It's not like an arc welder or hot wrench! cowboy33713 |

Mine came out fairly easy with the help of a 3/4 set....didnt look that bad after 30 years of use either....

Harbor Freight sells a cheap 6 piece set of JUMBO wrenches all the way to 1 7/8" for about $24 bucks and change....it was worth it to me and did the job fine!
