A little tip if you are converting to rear discs with the 76-78 Eldorado Calipers - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

If you convert to rear disc brakes on a 67-72 Chevy Truck and are using the 76-78 Eldorado E-Brake calipers, you can get the proper rear E-brake cables from http://www.classicperform.com, part number 6772EBC. The cables are also available through GMCPauls, which is where I bought them, but they shipped from Classic Performance Products. I don't work for them or anything - but I just got a pair of the cables and they are nice quality and fit perfectly. It took me about 15 minutes to have a working E-brake system using those cables and that included me removing 4 large nuts from the E-brake adjuster that the previous owner had installed during the 14 bolt swap. I know a lot of people say it's a hassle to get all the parts you need, but in this case it was easy.

The only fab work is to make a couple of small brackets that you can weld or bolt to the axle tubes to hold the outer sheathing on the cable if you so desire. You don't need to do this to have the cables work. But it will make for a nicer install. That's my project for this weekend.

Where did you get your brackets from? did you use bolt on axle type or weld on?

I got the brackets from Blackbird's as part of a rear disc conversion kit. They are very stout bolt on brackets.

ohh ok so you bought the whole conversion deal. did you take any pictures of the bracket?

No I didn't. I will say they are very well made - not like the ones you see on Ebay. There are no spacers or anything - they just bolt right up.
